Humble Indie Bundle: get some independent games, pay what you want and help charity

Undeniably, the Humble Indie Bundle has been one of the most interesting and meaningful independent gaming projects of the past few years. For all of you who don’t know what it is here’s some basic information: the humble bundles are a series of game packs that are distributed online and their price is determined by the person who purchases them. Basically, you can pay what you want, from 1 cent to a thousand dollars or more if you prefer to and you can also choose how the purchase is divided between the developers, Child’s play or the American Red Cross (Electronic Frontier Foundation was also supported in earlier bundles.) If somebody was to buy all these games separately in say, Steam it would probably cost more than $100 and here you get them all for whatever you want and you’re helping a charity in the process.

What’s also quite appealing about the Indie Bundles is that all of them are multiplatform (PC, Mac and Linux are supported,) they can be redeemed through Steam and they are DRM-free so you don’t have to worry about having an internet connection for a service to check that you have an original copy or something like that. Additionally, the person who purchases the game names the price and this has proven to be a really good way to prevent people from pirating the games, albeit the issue hasn’t been completely eradicated yet. Up to date, there have been 7 different bundles and sales have surpassed the $7 million, making it one of the biggest independent projects ever created. Furthermore, each bundle runs for a limited amount of time and if the purchaser pays the average price he/she gets two exclusive games.

Here’s a list of the main bundles with their respective games, though it should be noted that those bundles which have been discontinued won’t be coming back any time soon:
