Status posting is important. It builds community.

true... but we shouldn't worrry about details right now; a thing you should do is have a bunch of servers all over the States, just in case. THAT's something you want to worry about. Another is Hit counters.

I want this I really want to be able to say what is happening

There are hit counters, aka view counts on each page.
