Gets better with the bosses like Jelly King, but apparently Vanaduke is uber hard and at parts you cant melee him, PLUS the same part blocks bullets etc AND he is immune to most bombs.
Spiral Knights first impressions, where to start... I started testing out this game and found a relatively fun addictive game play about it. Running around, striking enemies, collecting small little gold coins and other rare artifacts from their corpses was fun.
Basically you create a character - with a few distinct looks and you gather artifacts that help you build recipes to forge weapons, armor and other sorts of unique items.
I found it exciting to kill wierd monsters and what they would release. I found it interesting that it was challenging to go deeper and deeper into the earth to complete quests. I found it relatively annoying that it costs energy to enter some areas - areas which seemed "better" killing grounds.
Some foreseeable areas I think need improvement are more items to buy when your still leveling up. I've probably put at least 1-3 solid hours of gaming into this game, and have yet been able to upgrade a single item of mine - so I'm still using the generic sword, the generic shield and the generic gun.
I thought it was pretty cool you could go around with your friends and group up. What I see as a downside, is that this game much reminds me of Diablo I and Diablo II. With Diablo III coming out very soon, I see this game struggling to compete with its lack of graphics and lack of "effective game play".
Spiral Knights appears more of a business idea than a game play. Its' set up with the exact same business model as Puzzle Pirates- although Puzzle Pirates - it seems like theres alot more to do in it. In spiral knights you have ONLY quests to complete and all you do is kill monsters. I say it has a similar business model because they have locations all over the place where you can convert energy to money and vice -versa. In this process, you can spend real money for energy which allows you to buy all sorts of items.
In my opinion Puzzle Pirates beats this game. I think Spiral Knights can improve drastically if they include more unique things to do in the game besides just going out and fighting with either your sword or gun.
Lets hope they make it more interesting.
My first impressions of rating this
is
6.5/10

6.5/10 is generous in my opinion it seems only a few people have much of a clue what they're doing and all it is, is go into tiers, fight buy items and repeat too one dimensional and needs to add things
I know i am weeks late for this, But somehow I missed this game's release, and i'd like to thank youfor the review, i'm gonna check it out. Thanks Davee.
Played some shortly after writing that comment, guess was good, within an hour or two I had most of the materials I needed for new armor/weapon - it does get kinda boring just going through the same things......
Nice Review. Once I get my new Laptop, I'll try it out, but first, lets do PP.
