    How Not To Be Scammed.

Below are a few tips that I personally learned from my own experience with buying/selling Runescape Accounts. This guide mainly focuses on the buyer's and the seller's ability to "recover" their accounts back after the trade is completed.

-When you wish to purchase a Runescape account, ALWAYS ask for more information about the account other than the username + password. Why? Scammers tend to keep several pieces of information to "recover" their Runescape account back once you two have completed the trade. In MANY occasions, the scammers are willing to do a 50/50 trade or they will go first. Do not trust them! The additional information you should request from the seller are: current and pevious recovery questions, Transaction ID(If the seller paid for his membership using Paypal)/Agreement ID(If the seller paid for his membership using Credit Card)+ their Earliest credit card subscription date or TeleBilling PIN(If the seller paid his membership with SMS or PaybyPhone), pevious passwords, date of account creation, and the name of ISP the seller used when he created the account. Here is a picture of the information Runescape requires when you attempt to recover your account

-After you've received the information, DO NOT pay yet! Go to http://www.runescape.com/loginapplet...swordchoice.ws and fill in the required info you received from the seller to test the legitimacy of the info. It may take up to 72 hours to get a reply from Jagex but it's worth it. If Jagex accepts your request for a new password, you may pay the seller. If not, DO NOT pay him! Chances are that the seller has provided you with some false info in attempt to scam you!

-Once you've received the username+pass and all the information I mentioned above, do NOT immediately start transferring valuable items and leveling your account. Always wait a few days/weeks before you start transferring items and leveling as some sellers may try to recover the account back and take all the items you transferred over!

-Remember, no matter how much information you get from the seller, there is always a small chance that the seller WILL "recover" his account back. I highly suggest all buyers to buy from trusted sellers and request all the information I mentioned above as well as anything else you can think off to prevent scams.

If anyone has further tips to prevent scammers, please post them!
