5706 - (3438+950)= avg of 1618 gp (this is your won
part)
[glow=blue,2,300]Mithril bars (4 coal 1 mithril ore): [/glow]
5 mithril ores [shadow=red,left](avg. of 1135 gp per
inventory)[/shadow]
&
20 coal [glow=red,2,300](avg of 3820 gp)[/glow]
=>[shadow=red,left]25/28 inventory slots[/shadow]
=> 5 mithril bars (5730 gp net profit, less time than
steel)
5730 - (1135+3820) = 775gp (your profit per bar)
=> 3875 profit per inventory.
Timing:
Steel bar: 30 seconds (smelting timing)
Mithril bar: 10-15 seconds (smelting timing)
Steel bar: 40 seconds - walking - al kharid (walking +
smelthing)
Mithril bar: 40 seconds - walking - al kharid (walking +
smelthing)

Steel can beat mithril in 1 way. If you smith more steel in a longer time you get more money like leaving the bot over night.
I used to do this to make RS gold. Made about a 1 mill and after buying some over priced worn out rune gauntlets, pretty much quit cause there's nothing else to buy as a free member.
i recall steelbars been bext for exp. (long time ago though) although i always mined mith every chance i could get because i liked to stock up on them =). pretty blue ore
