I voted dark default; white optional. The reason is because the white is too glaring on the eyes. Makes it difficult to browse for long periods of time. The optional could be for whoever likes it white.
Although, i think, maybe we could have a third? Like, autumn leaf colours? brownish?
I was on a forum long ago with that colour, very nice to see and enhanced the browsing experience.
