If you (like me) have been playing Xbox quite a lot today - you no doubt have had a few moments where that sixth sense strikes; that excruciating excitement as you anticipate the imminent green pop-up that informs you to perform a system update. But if you (like me) have had this experience, you no doubt will have had the subsequent one - that is, disappointment.
Yes that's right, as a big Xbox fan i've been waiting all day and some of this evening for the new dashboard update. I want to see Matt Damon's face on my Xbox as much as the next man, but there's some bad news I can deliver thanks to a tweet from Microsoft's Larry Hyrb:
FYI: The timing for Xbox 360 dashboard update has been slightly delayed. I’ll have a status update later today
No word yet on the reasoning or the length of the delay, but it’s still a delay. This update has been dubbed the "metro" update, and ironically much like the train services in England - I think we all should have seen a delay coming!
As of 5pm, it seems that users who were part of the dashboard preview program are slowly getting updated content on their dashboard, including a welcome video and the new LoveFilm App (UK ONLY). This could be a sign that perhaps the update could be rolling out soon, of course this is merely speculation. Microsoft have still to announce any further information.
At 5:21pm, Major Nelson tweeted:
We are still working to get the release out. Stay tuned, we’ll have an update this afternoon (PT) on when it will begin rolling out.
