A bot network, developed by hackers, which infected more than 2 million computers world wide by using keylogging malware to steal victims financial information and assets was taken down by the Department of Justice this week.
The criminals behind the CoreFlood Botnet apparently stole over 100 million dollars. 13 people were arrested and accused of wire fraud, bank fraud and illegal interception of electronic communications for their participation in the CoreFlood Botnet.
Furthermore, over 29 domain names were frozen and taken over. The servers running the coreflood scheme were siezed by court order and the compreshensive effort by the department were led to protect consumers from the harmful malware.
