If you're a little confused about where to start, try looking through a few of your options on your navbar (found to the left of your page) there's a handy starters guide which you can find "Here" (link).
In BPW you need power to make things run, as do all things, so make sure you first build a Solar Power Plant from your "Buildings" tab on your navbar. Then once you've done that, you might want to create a few mines which can be found in the same place in order to gather yourself some more raw materials.
If you're wanting to jump in straight away and start building ships, you first need a shipyard, which can be built after your "Robot Factory" is level 2 or above.
