Thread: How To Snipe In Black Ops

Introduction to Sniping.
Well, I have to admit, this game isn't the best place to start sniping. This is because Treyarch has made sniping harder just so they could get rid of quickscoping. What they did is they made it so it as if you lost your breath right as you scope in. So what that means is when you shoot too early, there is a high chance you'll miss. This is why you should't hesitate to hold your breath when you see someone and your scoping in.

Create your Class.
I'm just going to set up my class here. This is all preference, but I honestly do recommend you use the L96A1 sniper.

Primary: L96A1 with variable scope
Secondary: CZ75 with extended mags
Lethal: semtex
Tactical: Decoy
Equipment: Claymore

Perk1: Ghost
Perk2: Scout
Perk3: Second chance

^^ I believe thats a good class for sniping. You will see how to use it in my video at the bottem.


How to Snipe.
Now that you know some mechanics of sniping and have your class, you need to know what to do when your scoped in. The fastest and most effective way to snipe is to give a little sway. You may know it as dragscoping. But the difference is, your going to be completely zoomed in and most likely holding your breath. So when you see someone on your scope, just move your joystick so the crosshair would cross the enemy at one point. When you do that, shoot when the crosshair is on the enemy!

That sounds easy right? well, if you want to be effective, it's not. In fact, the faster reflexes you have, the faster you can do this. So I'd say a really good sniping tip is to be quick. Very quick. And i know, it's not easy :/. But since you have the know-how, you can jump straight into practicing, which brings on my next point.

Practice Makes Perfect!
Well by now your probably like " How the f*ck am I suppose to do this?! This wont help!!! * but all I'm teaching you is HOW to snipe. I'm not saying that the guide above is going to make you a complete beast. All it's going to do is point you in the right direction. So now its time to practice.

Combat Training
This is a good way to train sniping. If your new, do a 1v1 on recruit and try. And just increase the bot count as you get better. This is because half the key to sniping is getting use to it! So this is why you should just try my tips in combat training. It may feel awkward at first but when you get it, it will be fun.

Private Match
If you have a friend about your skill level, you can always ask him to have a sniping battle with you. It's fun and it does a good amount of what combat training should do.

There's a When and Where for Everything!
By now, you should be able to do moderately good in Player Matches while sniping. So go ahead and continue your practicing there. But don't snipe in every map. In fact, there are few maps you should snipe on. I like sniping on Array (moving around) and havanna (camping). But don't go into Nuketown with the L96A1. Very few people can do that. So stick to bigger maps

When sniping in smaller maps, your just going to have to set up camp :/. Pitch your tent, start a fire, bring some marshmellows. Because people with assault rifles will R@PE you since theres little chance of performing a quickscope on them.
