Thread: Black Ops or MW2

Im creating this thread as my 500th post on this forum and i wish to point out Black Ops' advantages over modern warfare two and is it better and worth the buy compared to modern warfare 2.

My personal opinion is yes.

PC - Dedicated Servers

In my opinion the biggest advantage Black Ops has over modern warfare two on the PC side is the Dedicated servers for multiplayer. Im sure everyone has experienced how annoying it is to change host every time the current one is lagging or has left the room which disrupts the game. Another reason why the host system has problems is that the game is so highly dependable on the host because if no suitable host can be found it closes the game killing all your killstreaks and wasting all the effort you have put into the game which causes such a huge amount of frustration.

The lo-tech weapons

Personally i think these older guns are such a breath of fresh air compared to all those high tech weapons in modern warfare two that just seems so ridiculous such as the heartbeat sensor which does not even exist in real life. The new ones offer much more better and reasonable attachments such as the dual mag which is basically two magazines glued together which is realistic and also helpful in terms of the game and you dont need to waste a perk such as the sleight of hand on faster reloading.


The Killstreaks

In my understanding this is why many people dont favor modern warfare two,its absolutely ridiculous killstreaks that can ruin any players game which makes it so bloody unbalanced. Here is a list of the modern warfare two killstreaks :

3 Kills - UAV
4 Kills - Care Package
4 Kills - Counter UAV
5 Kills - Sentry Gun
5 Kills - Predator Missile
6 Kills - Precision Airstrike
7 Kills - Harrier strike
7 Kills - Attack Helicopter
8 Kills - Emergency Airdrop
9 Kills - Pave Low
9 Kills - Stealth Bomber
11 Kills - Chopper Gunner
11 Kills - AC-130
15 Kills - EMP
25 Kills - Tactical Nuke


These are highly overpowered killstreaks that can determine the fate of the game easily such as the AC-130 which is renowned for destroying anything without a roof on top and the chopper gunner for its ability to cut you in half with its bullets. The Tactical Nuke is abused by competitive players in public matches and just stops the game there and then and the EMP if used correctly in certain SND matches it can be quite deadly. However this is a list of the Black Ops killstreaks :

3 Kills – Spy Plane: Shows enemies on the mini-map. Can be shot down and similar to UAV
3 Kills – RC-XD Explosive RC Car: Remote controlled car strapped with explosives
4 Kills – Counter Spy Plane: Temporarily disables enemies mini-map
4 Kills – SAM Turret: Airdrop a placeable SAM turret that destroys aircraft
5 Kills – Care Package: Airdrop a random killstreak or ammo crate
5 Kills – Napalm Strike: Airstrike that covers an area in napalm
6 Kills – Sentry Gun: Airdrop a placeable Sentry Gun
6 Kills – Mortar Team: Target 3 locations to bombard with Mortar Strikes
7 Kills – Attack Helicopter: Call in a support helicopter
7 Kills – Valkyrie Rockets: Launcher with remote controlled rockets
8 Kills – Blackbird: Shows enemy position and direction on the mini-map. Cannot be shot down
8 Kills – Rolling Thunder: Carpet bombing airstrike
9 Kills – Chopper Gunner: Be the gunner of an attack helicopter
11 Kills – Attack Dogs: Attack dogs that hunt the enemy down
11 Kills – Gunship: Pilot an attack helicopter

In my opinion these are harder to control weapons such as the mortar team which requires you to set the locations by yourself and the valkyrie rockets which are hard to maneuver. The only three very deadly killstreaks are the chopper gunner ,the attack dogs and the gunship but the small amount of kills required to trigger them is still questionable. The only thing keeping players from reaching the 11 killstreak mark easily is that the killstreak kills do not stack.

Quickscoping is taken out

This is perhaps in my opinion one of the most biggest things they have made unique in Black Ops causing many players to want to play but at the same time hate them for it. There has been so many discussions on this recently and most people just think people need to stop quickscoping and dominating with it and just learn to play normally . If you learn how to quickscope reasonably well , you have a chance of being the top gun in the game just camping out and killing anyone you see coming . However there is a new variation of quickscope that people are able to do in black ops which is the drag scope and that is harder to control and perform but everything comes with practice,doesnt it? Lets just hope people are not able to take advantage of this and start drag scoping all over the place similar to modern warfare 2.

CoD points
You still unlock weapons, equipment, abilities and customization through leveling up, but you have to purchase them before you can use them. As you play the game and earn experience points, you also earn CoD Points.

You choose the way you play the game; not interested in the Red Dot Sight? Skip over it and buy the ACOG Sight instead - the same idea goes for Perks and Killstreaks. When you reach level 4, all Perks become available for purchase. Killstreaks work the same way, but they are unlocked at level 10.

This system allows you to purchase what you want, when you want it, but you just have to make sure that you have the money. Earning money through regular gameplay is not the fastest way, but you do have two alternatives: Wager Matches and contracts.
Zombie Mode

This is a rather good change in Black Ops compared to Spec Ops in modern warfare two where two friends can go on a certain mission together. Zombie Mode offers a different challenge to players where they can team up to achieve the longest possible time surviving against zombies with interesting levels and such.


Gore

Yes i rejoice that Treyarch has introduced blood into Black Ops. I know i sound sadistic but dont you just feel satisfactory when you blow those bastards up with that SPAS-12? God its satisfying !

Terminal

This is quite a major addition to Black Ops where players can play games such as the arcade zombie game and the text-based game Zork. The zombie arcade game gives players an opportunity to take a break instead of just playing multiplayer all the time so why not just go blow some random zombies brains out . You could have a lot of fun with it and the terminal has so much potential. I mean who knows what else could be in the Terminal ?



These are all the advantages Black Ops have over Modern Warfare 2 in my opinion.


Now we come to the cons of Black Ops against Modern warfare 2


The most hated part of Black Ops is its storyline from what ive heard

From what i have heard from the previous comments below it is very unclear causing many people to be very unsure of what they are even playing. Modern Warfare 2's storyline was much better than black ops according to most people.

Graphics

Although i have not set modern warfare 2 nor Black ops at max graphics , I think many people agree that black ops graphics is worse than modern warfare 2. Black ops has this cartoony feel similar to World at war which some people dont like including me. Ill leave this up to the fanboys though because some people like it this way and it seems to be a trademark of Treyarch

The game engine and its realism


Its game engine is the same as the one used for World at war which was horrible. I wonder why Treyarch would do this,maybe cause they were lazy to create one unique for black ops? Lack of funding? We will never know. Realism on the game is pretty bad because its supposed to be set in the old times but they provide things such as the holographic sight and other aspects of the game.


I could not think much for the cons of this game as they come from other people's opinions and comments as such. If you wish to see something added please comment.
