What started out as an isolated incident regarding a corrupt Apple store in Texas, has quickly escalated into a nationwide problem. Several Apple store employees from across the country (Tennessee, California, Canada, Maryland, Michigan, etc) have come forward to reveal some of the terrible behind-the-scenes things that have been happening at Apple retail stores.
It seems that the problems extend far beyond poor management, as workers at Apple Stores referred to the job as “a personal playground”. Computers and iPhones would be thrown around rooms and destroyed as if they were worthless, and employees would steal/trade phones from the backroom with little to no resistance from management. Other problems include breach in customer’s privacy, pedophilia, and other horrific incidents that the employees revealed to Gizmodo.com during the summer. Here I will give a brief rundown of the situations employees found themselves in while working at Apple Stores.
“Management is so corrupt it goes beyond the retail stores.
I have had bosses sleep with employees, bosses buy drugs from employees, bosses get us wasted at the bars in return we make our store goals. Bosses have told us if we want a certain position and more pay there were things we were going to have to do to show how much we wanted the position. I have had a boss sexually harass and torment me. Ugh its disgusting how poorly apple employees are treated and yet NO ONE has a fucking clue. Apple retail is turning into Best Buy; soon to be filled with workers who don’t give a shit or respect the company and just there for the paycheck.”
As you’ll see from the above confession, Apple Store managers not only encourage bad behavior, but also do plenty of it themselves. But the biggest crime so far hasn’t been any of these stated above. What truly crosses the line is violating a customer’s privacy, particularly young women.
“I used to be an Apple store Expert and the most common practice by Geniuses was going through young girls computers and emailing their private photos to themselves so they could have them for personal use.”
“If a woman walked in, her stuff would get digged through, shared, and laughed at. Team bonding. Your iPhone camera roll isn’t safe.”
Yeah, no need to really elaborate on what they meant by “personal use”. This is a sick act that should meet punishment for committing. It’s truly disgusting that Apple Store managers have gotten away with stuff like this for this long.
Like I said in the beginning of the article, this is only a taste of what Apple Store employees and staff have been doing behind the curtain when you’re not looking.
